# Privacy Policy

Last updated: December 4, 2025

This Privacy Policy explains how the DeathNote Bot (the "Service") owned and operated by Hydra Labs LLC ("Hydra Labs") collects, uses, and discloses information when you install, run, or interact with the Service.

## Information we collect

* Notes: The Service stores short text notes created by users. Each note typically contains a timestamp, the Discord user ID of the creator, target user ID, and the free-text cause. These notes are stored in the project's `data/notes.json` file by default.
* Minimal runtime telemetry: The Service may log operational messages (errors, startup info) to console; these logs do not contain detailed personal data unless such data is explicitly included in a note.

## How we use your information

* Notes are used to provide the bot's core functionality: listing, removal, and referencing notes.
* We do not sell or share personal data to third parties for marketing purposes.

## Third-party services

* The Service may call third-party APIs (for example, Giphy) to fetch GIFs based on note text. The Service sends only the search text to the third-party provider and displays returned GIF content. Please review those providers' privacy policies for details.

## Deletion and retention

* Notes remain stored until removed via the `/remove` command. If you wish to have data removed, ask a Hydra Labs Developer.

## Data security

* The Service stores notes in plain JSON by default. Operators are responsible for deployment security (file permissions, backups, etc.).

## Children

* The Service is not intended for children under the age of 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you believe a child has provided personal data, contact the operator to request removal.
